Axis & Allies : detailed instructions for an email-based game

Axis & Allies

STEP 1 :

Make sure you have the game downloaded and properly installed. You can find a copy of the game and installation instructions here. Beware : the game currently on sourceforge is lacking some of the best maps because of some DMCA nonsense. If possible find an older version of the game to get the best maps. Additionally, You can download an official rule set for the game here.

STEP 2 :

NOTE : IF YOU ARE THE FIRST PLAYER PLEASE SKIP TO STEP 3

Log in to your email account.  When  you receive an email from the player directly before you, download your saved game file and place it in to your ‘savedGames‘ directory in the TripleA folder (see picture below).

Start TripleA and Click the ‘Load Saved Game…‘ button. Load the game that you just put into your ‘savedGames‘ directory.

STEP 3 :

Click the ‘Start Local Game‘ button.

STEP 4 :

Make sure that all the players are set to ‘Human‘ and click the ‘Play‘ button.

STEP 5 :

Make your move according to the rules. When you are finished, make sure you place your units. Once you have completed your unit placement it will be the next player’s turn. You should see the option for them to ‘Roll Tech.’  Do not push anything for them, your turn is over. You can now save the game. Press ‘Ctrl + s‘ to save the game. Choose a relevant title for your saved game name. You can now leave the game.

STEP 6 :

Log in to your email account and start an email to whoever the player after you is. Attach your saved game file from your ‘savedGames‘ directory in the TripleA folder (see picture below). Send the file along with some witty comments to incite rage among your opponents. You may want to forward a copy of the game to everyone playing so as to keep them up to date on recent developments.

STEP 7 :

Repeat these instructions until the game is completed. Have fun. Let me know if there are any problems. Good luck. Onward to victory!
